President's Day Vacation

For President's Day Weekend this year we hopped in the car and made a quick trip up to Utah! The boys were missing their Auntie Corinne and cousin Brooklyn and Uncles Matt and Nick, and of course Gigi too! So we decided that we'd head on up to the cold weather and take a little vacation! We left Thursday afternoon because Rye was working and it worked out great because the boys were asleep for most of the drive. We arrived and Corinne and Matt's at a little before 2 am Utah time, exhausted and ready to crash. We didn't get to sleep in much because the babies were well rested, but we got up and everyone was excited to play! Jackson was amazed at the sight of snow on the ground and as soon as he got dressed he was out the door! We played around on the playground for a bit and then headed to the Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur Museum for some fun! Jackson LOVES dinosaurs so this was a big hit for him! Even though Ryan and I had lived in Utah for a few years together, we had actually never been inside the museum. We did have a date to see the farm animals outside though:) So it was a first for everyone! We checked out lots of fossils, replicas and even got to play with dinosaurs too. Jackson loved digging in the sand for fossils and playing in the water with the mini dinosaurs! Here are some photos from the museum...

After that, we headed to Cabella's to see the fishy's, shoot some guns, and get some beef jerky of course! Ryan was a little upset that they were out of elk jerky, but we got three other kinds to satisfy him!
After that, we went to Gigi's house to visit her for a while and then headed back to Corinne and Matt's to play games and hang out with Uncle Nick!
Saturday morning we took it easy and in the afternoon we went up to visit the Snow Castles in Midway! Apparently some guy made them with pvc pipes and sprinklers, and he did a pretty awesome job! There were all sorts of tunnels and castles to explore and it was a blizzard outside so it was a lot of fun for everyone (except maybe Brooklyn who just looked cold the whole time!)

On Sunday we went to church and visited with family some more. It was really cute to watch the three little cousins interact. Wade kept trying to give Brooklyn hugs and she tolerated it for a while and then I think she just got tired of it because she just kept looking at him, like what are you doing? It was a short visit for such a long drive, but we were very happy to see our family and were sad to have to leave. Thanks for everything guys! We had fun!

Looks like you had a great time on your trip. It's great how kids can make playing in the snow fun again ... I'm hoping our little one has that effect on us.
