little man takes a tumble, so we take him to watch the cougars

Last Saturday Jackson was running full speed down the drive way and fell pretty hard. So, we gave him some hugs and kisses to make him feel better and let him watch Shrek to ease the pain. He didn't seem to be in a lot of pain, and there was no swelling, so we didn't think much of it. He stopped crying a few minutes later, and was up and running around like his usual self all week. On Thursday, we noticed he was starting to hold his arm a little funny and wasn't using it. I remembered he didn't want to put his clothes on or get in and out of his car seat the past few days. I thought it was just some sort of funk he was going through. So we watched him till Friday and when Ryan came home Friday night he said his arm looked like Harry Potter's and we decided we'd better go get an x-ray. After 4 hours in the ER, it turns out, his arm was broken! He has a buckle fracture in his radius and is now sporting a temporary cast, until we go to the specialist to get a new one! Poor little guy! I'm a little relieved he has such a high tolerance for pain, but frightened for the future, if a simple fall down the driveway breaks a bone! Little kids bones aren't fully developed yet, so they break a lot easier than ours would, so be careful everyone! The broken arm hasn't slowed him down one bit, in fact he now uses his cast to wipe his mouth, and play rock 'em sock 'em with papa.
Not a care in the world

To make our weekend a little less hectic, we took a trip down to San Diego to watch the Cougars take on the Aztecs at Qualcom Stadium. We went with my cousins David & Annya, Phillip and Laura and we had a blast cheering on BYU. There was a lot of BYU fans there, in fact our section was mainly BYU so we sang the fight song after every touchdown! David didn't like it so much since he goes to SDSU, but his team scored quite a bit too, so all was fair. Thanks Dav for getting us tickets and not cheering so loud! lol

That's an impressive cast, Jackson! I remember when Liam was about a week shy of one year old, I was suddenly inspired to take photos. That was a good thing, since the day before we were going to take his one-year photos, he fell in my bedroom, and hit his head on the bedframe of my bed. Seven stitches. Six days later, stitches barely out, I was walking him in a stroller on our street, when a kid clear at the other end of the street hit a tennis ball with a baseball bat, and it flew all the way up the street and... hit Liam in the eye. Second time in the ER in a week. We waited for Child Protective Services to show up for days after that... those boys!

Jackson is SO cute!

P.S. Random fact: my brother-in-law also goes to SDSU. Cool!

What a tough little guy! Glad that he showed some indications of it being broken. Wouldn't be too fun if he had not and it healed wrong, only to have to be re-broken, or something like that.
It's stories like this that make me wonder if I'm playing house, or it I really and a mom and would be the mom is a situation where my child was seriously injured. Not ready for the stupid things that kids do (especially as they get older). Hope he gets better soon!

how sad! I can't believe that he took it like a champ for so long.
