An exciting run in with an apostle of the Lord

Yesterday, our family had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Elder Richard G. Scott! We knew our Uncle Rob was going to be getting an exciting new calling but my mom hadn't spilled the beans yet, so we didn't know for sure. However, it wasn't hard to figure out that he was going to be the next Stake President, since he was already in the Presidency. After getting the go ahead from Aunt Tiff, we all hopped in the car to go to the Laguna Niguel Stake Conference. Sure enough, Uncle Rob became President Davis and we were thrilled to see him and Aunt Tiff bear their testimonies in front of what seemed like a thousand people! We also got to hear from Elder Scott in an unusual setting which was really neat. First he asked all the primary children to stand up and turn around and smile, so everyone could see them. Then he said the key to waking up with a smile, is going to bed with a coat hanger in your mouth! He invited two of the Young Women up on the stand and out of the blue started asking them questions. He said they didn't have to worry because he wouldn't embarrass them because they would be questions they already knew the answers to! He then told us how important it was to have the gospel in our homes and teach our children so that they can live righteous lives like those girls. Then he talked about scripture study and said "Scriptures are the foundation to happiness." That was my favorite quote from him because it is so simple, but true! After conference was over, we headed outside to find our family and Elder Scott was greeting people so we stood in line to say hi. He shook my hand and said "Thank you for your wonderful smile!" I thought that was pretty neat. Then our family was invited in to see President Davis set apart by Elder Scott. It was surreal being that close to an apostle of the Lord, knowing how close he is to the Christ himself. Thank you Davis family for letting us share your special day!

This was me trying to be polite but still get close enough to shake his hand. Little did I know that later, we would have lots of time to see him when he set everyone apart!
